IDW promotes 30 Days of Night graphic novels with DVD release

Friday, December 21st, 2007

As reported by ICv2. Excerpt follows:

Ted Adams of IDW Publishing has informed ICv2 that IDW has managed to include inserts promoting the publisher’s three major tie-in graphic novels in all of the 30 Days of Night DVDs (except those destined for Wal-Mart).

Not quite the impact of a mini-comic or something similar, and missing the Wal-Mart bandwagon is unfortunate, but cross-promoting the comic book and graphic novel industry via other media (movies, video games, etc) is something I’ve always supported. Kudos to IDW for making some headway.

Check out ICv2 for the full story and insert scan.

IDW’s Transformers: The Movie Prequel graphic novel to be animated - kinda

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Transformers: The Movie PrequelAs reported by the good folks at tformers.com, IDW’s Transformers: The Movie Prequel - a book I’ve been spotlighting here at the GNA for quite a while - is set to be “animated” for the up and coming Transformers DVD release! Site excerpt follows:

Chris Ryall reveals that the feature will only be available on the DVD collection being sold at Wal-Mart. The animated version will feature voicework from Peter Cullen and others, says Mr. Ryall.

The feature will have “[g]ood sound effects, cool movement of panels and voices,” Mr. Ryall describes. “[I]t’s pretty awesome to see our comic turned into something like that. And having Cullen speak our words is an insanely exciting thing, too.”
